Even though Labor Day is just past a week ago, it amazes me how quickly we begin to feel the signs of Fall approaching. No longer do we have those long summer evenings of day light to work by. Here at the farm we have begun to sow cover crops such as winter rye on some of the out lying fields. We have also begun to sow winter harvest greens like mustard, collards, spinach, & broccoli raab, and are hopeful for  some timely rains to come and help along their germination. By the end of the month we will begin to plan garlic for next season, while in the mail, seed catalogs have begun to appear for 2011.
